Happy Birthday, iPhone!

Happy Birthday iPhone! Five years ago, you were introduced you to the world and the mere idea of your development was met with thunderous applause. Before you, your older brother iPod was the big dog on the block. It was the ultimate mobile device, replacing the long-standing reign of the Walkman and portable CD players. Just like big brother iPod, you changed the mobile technology world, to the point where multi-million dollar companies have copied off of some of your ingenuity in their own technology.

You’ve done a lot over the last five years. It seems like just yesterday, Steve Jobs announced your release at the January 2007 MacWorld expo. You were boasted as being five years ahead of the game and five years later, you’ve generated over $150 billion in revenue. Along the way there were some stumbles: jailbreak softwares, antenna-gate, so on and so forth. But in the long run, it’s safe to say that you will be remembered as the game-changer that launched the early 21st century mobile boom.

Let’s take a look back on memory lane and look at the iPhone that was and the iPhone that is now…

iPhone The original iPhone debut in 2007. The concept combined the functions of an iPod with a revolutionary touchscreen display, a cellular phone, a digital camera and essentially a mini-personal computer. See: iPhone Skins

iPhone 3G; iPhone 3GS The oldest version of iPhone still in production, the iPhone 3G boosted the speed and hardware of its predecessor. With twice the RAM and just under twice the processor speed, the iPhone 3G and 3GS answered many performance questions from original iPhone skeptics. See: iPhone 3G Skins

iPhone 4; iPhone 4S And last, but certainly not least, today’s iPhone 4. The 8 megapixel camera, 1Ghz processor, AMOLED display and latest iOS make the iPhone 4 a giant in today’s super competitives mobile device market. The iPhone 4 combines the latest and greatest in design, display and functional technology, trademarks of the Apple brand.
